This is Roger Clarke-Johnson

I'm an english musician living and working in Germany. My first influence as a young kid were the Rock 'n' Roll guitarists like Scotty Moore. I can still clearly recall the feeling of hearing this twangy, metallic sound and thinking: "My God if I could do that and make somebody else feel like I do now, I'd have the world in my hands!"

I was up and playing gigs with a guitar I made at school by the age of thirteen having given up any idea of a real education, as the "Boss" Bruce Springsteen said:

"We learned more from a three minute record than we did all day at school."

Later I got into jazz largely through the spellbinding voice of Billy Holiday and unique skill of Joe Pass. While playing a mix of Blues, Soul and Pop with various bands I slowly developed a passion for spanish guitar music and started playing unplugged for friends and small parties.

However like many guitar players from my era I was always playing some bass guitar as well eventually being drawn to the double bass.

I've never really stopped gigging for very long, having realised at an early stage that music is an expression of love and if you have it you must always do it.
